The Blacks are a couple with a deep love for fostering dogs, and they’ve already provided a cozy home to more than 20 furry buddies. When they heard about a heavily pregnant Golden Retriever named Rosie who needed a temporary home, they didn’t hesitate to offer their kindness and hospitality.
Rosie had been residing at the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue when the Blacks took her in. As she neared her due date, the couple eagerly anticipated the arrival of Rosie’s newborn puppies.
When the day finally came, Katie and John were thrilled to see Rosie give birth to a bunch of precious little pups. However, there was a delightful surprise that came along with the package which they never expected.
Rosie gave birth to a litter of four adorable puppies that were an absolute delight to behold. However, what caught everyone off guard was the fact that these little pups didn’t bear any resemblance to their mother. With their white fur dappled in black spots, they looked more like miniature cows than Golden Retriever puppies!
It was quite unexpected when the litter of puppies arrived, catching everyone off guard except for Rosie who appeared to be unperturbed by their arrival. The duo proceeded to name the four little pups – Daisy, Clarabelle, Betsy, and Moo – after noticing their unique characteristics.
Although Rosie’s story may come as a surprise, it’s actually a common occurrence for puppies to not resemble their parents. According to The Nest, a puppy receives traits from both its mother and father, but whether or not it resembles either of them depends on the genes they carry. The Australian Shepherd Health Genetics Institute explains that dominant genes are always more influential than recessive ones when it comes to determining the physical characteristics of a puppy.
Rosie is enjoying her responsibility as a mother and not allowing any outside influences to bring her down. As stated by Katie, Rosie is filled with joy and pride as a new mom.
