Introducing the incredible pig who believes she’s a canine. Virginia the Juliana pig has captured the hearts of over four million online visitors through her owner’s Reddit page, Pigpimpin. This 10-month-old pig resides in Colorado alongside her human family and a pair of boxer dogs.
Virginia, the pig, has a unique personality where she thinks she’s a dog as she often follows around her owner’s two boxers. Her owner, who goes by the name Pigpimpin, shares insights about Virginia with her many fans. According to Pigpimpin, Virginia was introduced to the dogs at a young age and has since grown up thinking she’s one of them. She has a fondness for cuddling and is particularly obsessed with Pigpimpin’s boyfriend, often climbing onto his lap whenever he sits down. Virginia has seamlessly integrated into the household in Colorado, adopting many of the dogs’ behaviors. However, there was a comical incident where Virginia ended up eating pork when she snatched a piece of sausage that was intended for one of the dogs. Pigpimpin humorously refers to this incident as a case of “cannipigalism.”
In contrast to common beliefs, Virginia is quite tidy and odor-free despite dealing with dandruff. Fortunately, she is well-trained and doesn’t wallow in the mud like other pigs. She may get a bit flaky when her skin is dry, but that’s the extent of it. Surprisingly, Virginia is more clever than the dogs, quickly mastering the dog door and being a breeze to house train. Pigs are often overlooked as smart and affectionate beings due to their livestock image, but they are gaining popularity as pets rather than just a food source.
Virginia is completely potty trained and doesn’t mind snacking on the occasional sausage that the dogs drop on the floor. When she reaches full size, she is expected to weigh around 50 pounds. Her owner mentioned, “She learns quickly, even faster than the dogs. For instance, when we got a dog door, she was the first one to figure out how to use it. The dogs took a couple of days of barking and scratching at it before realizing they could go outside through it.” It only took Virginia a day to learn how to use the litter box. Ever since the dog door was installed, she immediately started going outside and has never had an accident indoors. She is very tidy and quick to adapt to new things.
